BC@UNCOP—UN Climate Conference

电子游戏软件 is an official Observer Organization for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also referred to as the Conference of the Parties or COP. This highly influential annual global event serves as the center of global climate change policymaking. 电子游戏软件 sent students and 教师 to COP26 and COP27, and will be sending a delegation to COP28 later this year.

COP28 will be held in Dubai from Nov 30, 2023 – Dec 12, 2023

电子游戏软件 will once again be sending a delegation of students and 教师 to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. 的 20 delegates were competitively selected from a pool of almost 300 applicants by a committee of 教师, 工作人员, and students from across campus. 的席勒电子游戏正规平台所 is committed to producing outreach programming that extends the University's investment in sending a delegation to COP and allows students, 教师, and others to benefit from the delegate's time at COP. COP27 was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from Nov 6, 2022 – Nov 18, 2022

Over the course of the Spring 2023 semester, the BC delegation of 教师 and students that represented the university in Sharm El Sheikh will be delivering a series of programs to share their experience of attending COP27 and broaden the conversation about the pressing dangers of climate change and the ways we, as individuals and as a campus community, can addrees climate change through advocacy, scholarship and professional avenues.

We did this to both expand the experience for as many of the campus community as possible to counteract the limited number of conference badges awarded to Observer Organizations, and to support the 席勒电子游戏正规平台所 mission to increase awareness of issues related to our core areas: energy, 环境, 和健康.

To increase understanding and awareness of global climate change policy and action, the 席勒电子游戏正规平台所 for Integrated Science and Society hosted an event featuring Somini Sengupta, International Climate Change Correspondent for the 纽约时报. Sengupta also moderated a panel of BC 教师 experts, including Lacee Satcher (Sociology), Hanqin Tian (席勒电子游戏正规平台所 and Earth and Environmental Sciences), 桑德拉·瓦多克(商业), 大卫·沃斯(法律).

COP26 was held in Glasgow, Scotland from Oct 31, 2021 to Nov 12, 2021

电子游戏软件 students and 教师 attended the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland—BC's first accredited delegation—and continue to work at reducing 环境al and climatological harm caused by human activities.

Under the leadership of the 席勒电子游戏正规平台所, every non-graduating student and 教师 member regardless of rank was provided the opportunity to apply to represent BC at COP27. 的 invitation was sent to 17,000 people. We received over 350 high quality applicants from 教师 and students. Slightly more than 50 were invited to the second round. Twenty were selected for the delegation with seven alternates.
